Sep. 8th, 2007

Me and Nick were supposed to meet for the 10th attempted time at meeting and it failed yet again.

If someone here, tries to meet up with someone and it never works, please do not keep attempting. I know Nick is hiding something, although he claims he's not but no one is that unlucky. No one.

He claims NOW, that these are all signs that we are not meant to be together. And that he never really evaluated what it all meant till now. I do not believe him, as it has not worked 10 times and that's just impossible. So he ended it with me, claiming these signs he missed means we aren't for each other.

I'm so glad I planned my future with my best friend.. for him to just lie to me and tell me something that hurts even worse than whatever truth he could be hiding.
Your name: mandellebrotte
Where are you from? We're both from Sydney, but I'm starting a Doctoral program in Chicago this Fall. So we're going to be across the Pacific for a while.
Your SO's name: Garth
Where are they from? Sydney
How long have you been together? 9 months
How did you meet? At work.

Have you met in person? When? Yes. We got together two weeks before I got accepted into grad school. It was supposed to be a bit of a casual thing, but about a month after that we realised it was very much not a casual thing and he said he would follow me over as soon as he could.

What's your favorite part about being in a transpacific relationship? Well, obviously I don't have the same cross-cultural isssues as other people, but I love the idea that I'm going to be able to explore the city and get to know it, so by the time he arrives I will be able to show him around my city! I don't love the idea that I'm going to have to find us an apartment with no credit rating in the States.

Plans for the future? He's going to start looking for a job, and hopefully he'll be over by Christmas. I really have no idea how long the whole process is going to take, but hopefully the E3 Visa class will make things easier! Absolutely the earliest he can come over, with work contracts and other constraints, is December. So, hopefully SDR soon. But we have to get through all the immigration/relocation hassles first.

Any pictures you'd like to share? Sure!Collapse )

There are quite a few of us, aren't there?

Your name: Liz
Where are you from? New York, NY during the year, farther upstate during the summers
Your SO's name: Tom
Where are they from? Somewhere around Sydney
How long have you been together? Exactly 5 months as of yesterday.
How did you meet? There was a website we've both long since stopped visiting, but that's where we originally met each other, about four years ago. We only started talking to each other one-on-one about two years ago via AIM, and the rest is history.
Have you met in person? When? Sadly, no. However, I'm hoping to be able to do an International Exchange program through my university during my junior year, and he's definitely coming stateside with his family in '09, and he says he can get separate flights and just come see me instead of doing touristy stuff.
What's your favorite part about being in a transpacific relationship? The looks I get on people's faces when I tell them about it... everybody thinks I'm crazy. And picking on each other's accents can be fun. Aluminum only has one i!
Plans for the future? Like I said, visiting... both of us happen to be keen on the idea of living in Ireland, so who knows... maybe once we're both done with school, that's where we'll end up.
Any pictures you'd like to share? Nope, but if there ever are any, I'll make sure to put em up here.

Hello, hello! Really awesome to see that there ARE people going through my same thing! It's almost comforting, honestly. It's really hard but so worth it. I can't see myself with anyone else but him.

Your name: Rachel -- immortal_kiss

Where are you from? Jacksonville, Florida ..USA

Your SO's name: Nick -- mr_Innocent

Where are they from? Melbourne, AU

How long have you been together? We've officially been together since Jan 18 of this year but we've known each other a little over 4 years now.

How did you meet? We met through one of my friends who ran a website. She was thinking of closing her site, so he emailed her and told her she shouldn't. She invited him into a chat one night, invited me too and we all talked. I saved his screen name and the next time I seen him online, I decided to say hello and voila!

Have you met in person? When? Nick is actually coming to see me this coming Tuesday! I am so very excited about his arrival. It's been too long of a wait to finally be able to meet him.

What's your favorite part about being in a transpacific relationship? It's neat to learn about the different cultures and be able to see where he lives. He takes a lot of pictures for me and that's been amazing. Nick is not actually Australian but he's an American living in Australia for 6 years now, so he says things sometimes and I'm wondering what in the world he's talking about. I love hassling him about them now. (Go to the football, keBAB, hire a car)

Plans for the future? The whole reason for his visit, is for him to find a house. So he's coming to live here with me. We have much talked about how this relationship is forever, it's not just something temporary, so I know a wedding is in the future, as well as children. He already has one but children of our own.

Any pictures you'd like to share? No pictures of us together but here is him and myself:
